Alejandro Iñárritu and Emmanuel Lubezki’s Virtual Reality

Director Alejandro Gonzalez Inarritu, actor Tom Hardy, actor Leonardo DiCaprio and cinematographer Emmanuel Lubezki arrive for the premiere of 20th Century Fox And Regency Enterprises' 'The Revenant' held at TCL Chinese Theatre on December 16, 2015 in Hollywood, California.

Alejandro G. Iñárritu, winner of back-to-back Oscar nominations for best director in 20th Century Fox’s ‘The Revenant’, and New Regency’s ‘Birdman’, is beginning work on a new experimental virtual reality short film. The film will be produced and financed by Legendary Entertainment and Fondazione Prada. ILMxLAB will build the virtual world and its characters.

He and cinematographer Emmanuel Lubezki, who also worked alongside Iñáritu in ‘Birdman’ and ‘The Revenant’, will be working with the world of Virtual Reality for the first time. The film will delve into the harsh realities a group of immigrants and refugees must face when crossing the border between Mexico and the United States.

Cinematographer Emmanuel Lubezki, winner of Best Cinematography for 'The Revenant,' actor Leonardo DiCaprio, winner of Best Actor for 'The Revenant,' director Alejandro Inarritu, winner of Best Director for 'The Revenant,' and Producer Steve Golin, winner of Best Film for 'Spotlight,' attend the 88th Annual Academy Awards| Christopher Polk

Given our current political climate, I would say there is no better time than now to begin working on what will surely be a powerful piece.
