FX’s anthology series American Horror Story will take another twist after episode 6, leaving you asking what am I watching? This season of American Horror Story has been shrouded in secrets almost since season 5’s Hotel ended.
Roanoke follows Shelby and Matt Miller, played by Lily Rabe and Matt Miller, sitting to be interviewed for documentary series, My Roanoke Nightmare. The young couple moves into a haunted ramshackle shed in North Carolina. Complete with sometimes comical reenactments by Sarah Paulson and Cuba Gooding Jr. as they encounter angry spirits from the 16th century Roanoke Colony. Wes Bently and Kathy Bates are among those terrorizing the couple with a guest appearance from Lady Gaga. Did I mention they can make it rain human teeth?
Still wondering exactly what is going on? Well, that may not change. Even after two episodes or chapters of My Roanoke Nightmare have aired, Ryan Murphy, co-creator, hinted that it will all be flipped on its head after chapter 6. The show’s producer told Entertainment Weekly, “Starting in Episode 6 the show has a huge turn, and the that you think you’re watching is not what you’re watching.”
American Horror Story fans, I am sure are used to twists and turns and speculating how the different seasons are connected. (There have been hints that Jessica Lange may return due to connections to Freak Show). However, this season is like none of the past ones. And soon it will become a new story. Brad Falchuk, co-creator says in Entertainment Weekly “It’s like [episodes] 1-5, 6-9, and 10 is its own thing.”
Although it is shaping up to be the most different of all the themes, it leaves you wanting more. Tune in Wednesdays at 10:00p.m. only on FX.
