Shakira teamed up with fellow Colombian sensation Maluma to drop their new hit single, “Chantaje”. This is the first time the two have collaborated with one another and it’s definitely a hit. It’s as if these two Colombian bomb shells teamed up to give us life and completely succeeded. After having only been released for some hours, the single quickly became #1 in 16 countries. Today (October 31st), the single sits at #1 on the iTunes Latino music chart.
This song has the potential to get everyone dancing and will likely be a hit in clubs everywhere.
Shakira had her Instagram followers anxiously waiting for this release, as she dropped hint after hint on her account. Check out the video below where she actually calls a fan on FaceTime after having guessed the correct answer to a hint. She played him a snippet of the single and he gushed saying, “It’s going to be #1”.
Shak just called a fan, @danielf1993 after he correctly guessed that the word #Chantaje appears 12 times during her new track with @maluma (out tomorrow) – and played him the song!
This collab was made possible after Maluma’s recent remix to Shakira and Carlos Vives’ latest summer hit, ‘La bicicleta’. Maluma revealed to Billboard that it was an opportunity he just couldn’t give up, Sony music proposed the idea after having heard the remix, and the rest was history.
Here’s what Maluma had to say about his experience working with the latin superstar, “I was in Barcelona working with Shakira and it was an amazing experience,” he coninues, “She’s a great artist and I learned a lot working with her.” Below is a tweet written by the singer about his feelings after the release of ‘Chantaje’. It translates to, “I still can’t believe #Chantaje is a reality, what a huge blessing”.
Todavía no creo que #Chantaje es una realidad, que bendición tan GRANDE! ????????????????????????
