Warner Bros. Pictures has a lot of work cut out for them. With both Wonder Woman and Justice League coming out next year and six more films scheduled after that, it’s going to take a lot of creative effort to catch up to Marvel Studios, who have been at this since 2008 with Iron Man. However, one that film doesn’t seem to be on their immediate schedule is the sequel to Man of Steel, the film that kicked off the DC Extended Universe.
You would be forgiven for thinking that Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice was the sequel to Man of Steel, but it is merely a follow-up film meant bring the future members of the Justice League closer together. While there is virtually no information on this important sequel, we can at least thank Amy Adams for letting slip that, at the very least, the powers that be are working on a script as we speak. While promoting the sci-fi film Arrival, Amy Adams did an interview with the Youtube film channel Hey U Guys, where they asked her about Man of Steel 2‘s progress. Amy Adams had this to say:
“I read about Man of Steel 2 when you guys did. A lot of times I find out sort of after the fact, which is fine, it’s completely normal. It’s not indicative of anything. But yeah, I know they are working on a script, and I know that it’s in the works, apparently. Yeah.”
This is probably good news, as there are some fans out there (though not all) that are still unconvinced about this new version of Superman, evidenced by the divisive reaction to Batman v. Superman by both critics and audiences alike. I personally enjoyed many aspects of that film, such as the action, the tone, and Batman (OH MY GOD Batman was amazing!). However, the editing left a lot to be desired, something that must be rectified in future installments if this franchise is going to survive. If this sequel truly is in development, one can only hope that the talented Amy Adams has a role to play in it.
