The 74th annual Golden Globes 2017 awards were celebrated in Beverly Hills, California at the The Beverly Hilton Hotel on January 8, 2017. Here are the winners and highlights of the show. The show was hosted by Jimmy Fallon and it was as fun as expected.

Moonlight won the best motion picture – drama.

Isabel Huppert won the best actress award in the motion picture, drama for the movie Elle.

Casey Affleck won the best actor award for the Manchester by the Sea.

La La Land won the best Motion picture award.

Emma Stone won the best actress in the motion picture, musical and comedy for the musical – La La Land. In her speech Emma encouraged everyone to keep dreaming and working hard to reach the goals and never give up.

Donald Glover won the best actor in TV series for the movie Atlanta.

Damien Chazelle won the best director for the movie La La Land.

Viola Davis presented the Cecil DeMille lifetime achievement award to Meryl Streep. In her speech Viola said to Meryl:

“You make me proud to be an artist”

The Crown won the best show in the TV series, drama category.

Claire Foy won the best actress for The Crown dedicating the award to women in the world but mostly to her daughter and of course, Queen Elisabeth II.

Jon Hamm noticed what we all’ve been thinking about as most of us did – Beard Parade 2017.

Tom Hiddelston won the best actor in the Night Manager, dedicating the award to people helping increase the quality of life in South Sudan.

Kristen Wiig had a new short haircut joking with Steve Carrell that she was inspired by his haircut. The two shared very sad stories about the first time they saw the animated movie. They awarded golden globe to Zootopia for the best animated motion picture.

La La Land won the best Screenplay, Motion Picture award

Michael Keaton presented the award to Viola Davis for the best supporting actress in the motion picture. In her acceptance speech she thanked Denzel Washington, her family and her father.

Ryan Gosling won the best actor award for La La Land, dedicating the award to his wife Eva Mendes who stayed at home with the kids and help her brother fight cancer.

Olivia Coleman won the award for Night Manager.

The best original song – City of Stars from La La Land.

La La Land won the original score.

Sofia Vergara was trying to make a joke about the word “annual”, eventually saying – every year. Not the funniest joke, nice try though.

Hugh Laurie won for Night Manager and seemed to be sincerely shocked and accepted the award of behalf of psychopathic billionaires.

Sarah Paulson wins for the People vs. O.J. Simpson, American Crime Story.

The show Atlanta won the Golden Globe.

Tracy Ellis Ross won for Blackish and dedicated her speech to all the women of color.

Billy Bob Thornton won for Goliath.

Jimmy Fallon made a great impression of Chris Rock.

What an excellent opening with “La La Land” show in mind, then Jimmy danced with Justin Timberlake and shared a gum with Ryan Reynolds. And at the beginning of the show the teleprompter stopped working so Fallon had to improvise.
