From announcing her pregnancy on the first day of Black History Month to creating and enacting a show-stopping performance at the Grammy awards, Beyonce has had a momentous 2017 so far. However, it seems as though it may be time for her to slow down – but that isn’t a decision of her own making.
One of Beyonce’s next steps in taking over 2017 was her headlining slot at the 2017 Coachella music festival. Unfortunately, it has just been announced that she will not be attending. According to a statement given to the Associated Press by Beyonce’s Parkwood Entertainment and festival producer Goldenvoice, the singer has had to pull out of the festival “following the advice of her doctors to keep a less rigorous schedule in the coming months.”
Coachella is known for its yearly lineup, which is always comprised of the year’s hottest stars. The guest list also includes a hefty amount of pop culture’s VIPs – from Vanessa Hudgens, to Cara Delevingne, to the Jenner sisters. Up until this point, there were no signs that Beyonce would miss the star studded event.
Beyonce has already promised to headline the 2018 festival to makeup for her absence this year, but it is not yet clear who will perform in her place for the time being. The other promised headlining acts are Radiohead and Kendrick Lamar, whose performances are still going on as planned. Other prominent members of the lineup include DJ Khaled, Bon Iver, DJ Snake, and Lorde, among others.
The festival will take place over the course of two weekends: April 14th through 16th, and April 21st through 23rd.
