It was confirmed yesterday that Nordstrom cut its ties with Ivanka Trump.
The retailer officially dropped Trump’s line from its stores. Business Insider found that the Trump’s products had disappeared completely from the company site, and her name was also taken off of the list of available brands.
A spokesperson for Nordstrom had this to say, “We’ve said all along we make buying decisions based on performance. Reviewing [our brands’] merit and making edits is part of the regular rhythm of our business. Each year we cut about 10% and refresh our assortment with about the same amount. In this case, based on the brand’s performance we’ve decided not to buy it for this season.“
Nordstrom has taken an unexpected turn from where there stance was on dropping Ivanka from its stores back in November. The retailer tweeted out the following message:
our customers can make choices about what they purchase based on personal views & we'll continue to give them options. (2/2)

What do you think? Is this purely business or a way to no longer stay neutral? Maybe it’s both. Considering her father’s approval ratings fell tremendously, it’s not hard to see that maybe having the Trump name in any retailer could be bad for business. Of course this is all just speculation.
