Many interesting things happened during the 2017 Grammy Awards. Beyoncé showed off her baby bump during her stunning performance, Rihanna spent her night drinking from her bedazzled flask, and James Corden was enjoying some carpool karaoke with other celebs. It was definitely a night to remember.
One of the more memorable things that happened over the course of the night was Twenty One Pilots Grammy acceptance speech since both men were half naked during it. The group took home Best Pop Duo/Group Performance for their song “Stressed Out,” but not before showing America their boxers.
Announcer Nick Jonas invited the Grammy winners up on stage to accept their award. Before making their way to the stage, the musicians took off their tuxedo pants and headed up to the mainstage in their undies. Fruit of the Loom would’ve been proud. Talk about product placement.
The 28-year-olds explained the underwear situation to the crowd in their acceptance speech. I’m sure audiences everywhere were pleased to know that the artists had a purpose for this, and were not completely losing their minds. The music duo talked about their pre-fame days and how each year they would watch the Grammys together. One year, performers Tyler Joseph and Josh Dun spent their night watching the Grammys in their underwear. After this incident, both agreed that if they ever won a Grammy Award, they would accept it in their undergarments. Both men fulfilled their Grammy dreams on Sunday and scarred the minds of thousands of Americans everywhere in doing so.
