As anyone who has ever scrolled past a Final Thoughts video on Facebook knows, Tomi Lahren is not one to tread lightly. You can call her what you want – conservative, inflammatory, an alt-right mouth-piece – but you cannot call her quiet. However, it looks like that’s what she’s going to have to be this week after her network, TheBlaze TV, pulled her show off the air.
Launched on February 1st of this year, Lahren’s self-titled show on TheBlaze is a nightly series geared towards right-wing viewers. Up until this point, she has thrived on the criticisms of liberals – whom she and her fans call ‘snowflakes’ – and on the positive reinforcement she constantly receives from fellow conservative Republicans who appreciate her efforts to speak without limitations or fear of repercussion. Unless that speech contradicts their values, it seems.
In an appearance on the talkshow The View, Tomi Lahren revealed that she is pro-choice – a shocking opinion from someone who aligns themselves with the vehemently anti-abortion political right. Fans and adversaries alike were taken by surprise when, after defending anti-women claims against Trump, Lahren began to answer a question about abortion from a pro-choice point of view:
“I am a constitutional, y’know, someone that loves the Constitution. I’m someone that’s for limited government. So I can’t sit here and be a hypocrite and say I’m for limited government but I think the government should decide what women do with their bodies. I can sit here and say that, as a Republican and I can say, you know what, I’m for limited government, so stay out of my guns, and you can stay out of my body as well.”
Even her interviewers were visibly surprised, and Lahren laughed that she gets equal hate from both sides of the political spectrum. What was meant to be a joke, though, has proven to be extremely true for her in this situation, as TheBlaze founder Glenn Beck attacked her interview in a tweet:
Rule another label out. I am NOT a "constitutional". I believe in LIFE, liberty and property. Just an old fashioned "constitutionalist."
— Glenn Beck (@glennbeck) March 17, 2017
She fired back:
I have moderate, conservative, and libertarian views. I'm human. I will never apologize, to anyone, for being an independent thinker.

The incident has led to a show of support from many that usually critique her videos:
Weird to think @TomiLahren might be fired for the first sound argument she's made in her career! ????

Regardless, not everyone is as easily impressed. Despite the fact that Lahren took a more liberal stance on a hot-button issue, it does not change the fact that in the past she has fiercely attacked the left’s opinions and supporters. Her other comments regarding all topics from race to the election to ‘liberal tears’ have made her enemies for life and one pro-choice comment is not enough to bring them over to her side:
Tomi Lahren 100% deserves everything happening to her. suddenly deciding you're pro-choice doesn't mean I'm on ur team. don't @ me.

Don't support @TomiLahren because she is pro-choice. One correct opinion doesn't outweigh 1000 awful ones.

If you look up "Tomi Lahren" on here, the only people that feel bad for her is white people lol

Tomi Lahren is used to making waves in the media, but this one may be too big for even a seasoned pro like her. She has been no stranger to scandal this year, either, and this may just be the hair that breaks the camel’s back. Her interview with Daily Show host Trevor Noah in which she compared the movement to the KKK went viral, as did screenshots of her controversial deleted tweets from years ago.
The question on everyone’s mind remains: where did this all come from? In the past, Lahren has expressed pro-life sentiments, leaving many wondering whether she changed her mind or finally revealed what she has been thinking all along. Only time will tell and it is likely that followup interviews with her will reveal more about the source of her pro-choice comment, but one thing is clear: this information will not be up on TheBlaze anytime soon.
