Since Ivanka Trump’s line has been dropped from major retailers back in January, the Business of Fashion has just discovered that Ivanka Trump’s clothing line has been relabeled as Adrienne Vittadini by distributors.
G-III, the company licenses Ivanka Trump clothing, relabeled the line as Adrienne Vittadini and sold it to retailer Stein Mart without the consent of the Ivanka Trump brand, according to the Business of Fashion.
No illegal action has been committed; however, swapping labels for a discount merchandiser is very common. G-III states that the mislabelling was not politically motivated.
The brand issued a statement saying, “G-III accepts responsibility for resolving this issue, which occurred without the knowledge or consent of the Ivanka Trump organization… G-III has already begun to take corrective actions, including facilitating the immediate removal of any mistakenly labelled merchandise from its customer. The Ivanka Trump brand continues to grow and remains very strong.”
