John Travolta and Olivia Newton-John’s friendship began decades ago on the big screen and continues to this day. Travolta showed his love and support for his Grease co-star this past Wednesday one week after the actress announced the return of her breast cancer.
Travolta spoke highly of Newton-John, telling People, ‘Olivia has always been an incredible human being and an inspiration to millions of people.’
Travolta continued to say ‘If we all put our intentions for her to get through this-I know her so well-she will feel it, and it will support her. We love her and she loves us.’
The two actors starred in the iconic 1978 romantic musical Grease Danny Zuko and Sandy Olsson. In 1983, Travolta and Newton-John shared the screen again in the romantic fantasy comedy Two Of A Kind.
Newton-John first battled breast cancer back in 1992 when she 43 years old. During this time, she underwent a partial mastectomy, chemotherapy and breast reconstruction.
After announcing that her cancer had returned, Newton-John sadly postponed her summer tour dates in the U.S. and Canada due to her back pain. She is currently consulting with her medical team at her Olivia Newton-John Cancer Wellness and Research Centre in Melbourne, Australia.
Although faced with sad news, Newton-John is hopeful for the future and has expressed her gratitude for the love that her fans have given her.
In a statement she gave to People, the Australian actress informed her fans on her health status.
‘I’m totally confident that my new journey will have a positive success story to inspire,’ she says. It’s great to see Newton-John’s positivity during this difficult time and her desire to inspire people.
