Wonder Woman Makes Box Office History

As the first heroine lead movie, Wonder Woman is breaking the glass-ceiling and creating a gateway for more female lead action movies.

DC comic book fans have been waiting for a hit movie for a long time, and now they finally have it with DC’s Wonder Woman.  Not only does DC have a hit but Wonder Woman is making box office history since it was released this weekend.  According to Women’s Wear Daily during its opening weekend Wonder Woman,

“outperformed estimations of $80 million to $90 million and brought in $100.5 million in the U.S. and Canada,” as well as, “Internationally, the Warner Bros. and DC Comics film brought in $122.5 million this past weekend, for a total global opening of $223 million.”

To put even more icing on the cake the films’s talented directer, Patty Jenkins, holds the record for the biggest opening of a movie by a female directer.  The cherry on top?  Wonder Woman is only Jenkins’s second feature film, with her first being “Monster.”
