On Thursday, NBC revealed that its new dance competition series, World of Dance, has been renewed for a second season!
The show is the summer’s number one new series as it averages a 2.8 rating in adults 18-49, and it has reportedly attracted 11 million viewers.
“I am so happy that ‘World of Dance’ has resonated with audiences and we are able to put dancers on the pedestal they deserve. I cannot wait to continue this journey and my partnership with NBC,” said Jennifer Lopez who serves as executive producer on the show.
The NBC series provides dancers with the opportunity to audition in front a panel of celebrity judges, including Jennifer Lopez, Derek Hough, NE-YO, and Jenna Dewan Tatum. The winner will win a prize of $1 million!
With a large, established viewership, the next season of World of Dance looks promising. “The amazing dancers competing this season have proven to not only entertain us but elevate our expectations and expand our imagination. The bar has been set extremely high for season two. The competition will be fierce and we will all witness greatness,” said Meredith Ahr, president of Universal Television Alternative Studio.
