According to Variety magazine, Ava DuVernay who has created a project of the Central Park Five case will write and direct a short series for Netflix.
The plot of the series will focus on five teenagers who were wrongly convicted of rape.
“I had an extraordinary experience working with Netflix on ’13th’ and am overjoyed to continue this exploration of the criminal justice system as a narrative project with Cindy Holland and the team there.”
Some of the producers behind the series are Oprah Winfrey, Jeff Skoll, Jane Rosenthal as well as Tribeca Productions and Harpo Films.
Oprah Winfrey has worked with Ava DuVernay before on the Oscar-winning movie – Selma.
Ava worked with Netflix before on the documentary – “13th”
The series will have 5 episodes and span from spring 1989 to 2014, after they were exonerated.
