Your inner 90s kid should be screaming.
MTV President Chris McCarthy just announced the return of the Carson Daly-hosted show, which ran from 1998-2008. It is set to air this October.
The program played the generation’s picks of pop music and videos, in addition to hosting special celebrity guests.
The new show will take place at a studio in Times Square and will feature music requests just like its iconic predecessor. There is no word yet as to whom the new host will be.
If we’re going to come back and reinvent MTV, the studio is a given,” McCarthy told the New York Times.
The announcement came in part of a string of recently announced changes for the company. The network, which lost its cult following as of late, has recently increased ratings with a “Fear Factor” reboot and is planning a Laguna Beach-inspired reality show dubbed “Siesta Key.”
