Apple is ready to join the “original TV series” race alongside Netflix and Amazon Prime. In a recent announcement, the corporate giant has set aside $1 billion to begin producing its own content. Here are a few things that we know so far about Apple’s next big step.
1. Apple wants to make roughly 10 “Game of Thrones” or “House of Cards” type of shows
According to the Wall Street Journal, Apple is definitely planning on making full-scale shows with its given budget. Despite this, it’s still not enough to launch a full-scale subscription service. To also put this in context, Netflix is spending $6 billion on its content, and HBO spent $2 billion on content last year.
