Good Morning America saw tears from their viewers in the audience as Toni Cornell and One Republic pay Tribute to Chris Cornell. The daughter of the singer performed “Hallelujah” by Leonard Cohen alongside Ryan Tedder, the perfect ballad to honor her father who was the lead singer of One Republic.
The performance was also meant to pay tribute to the death of her fathers friend, Chester Bennington of Linkin Park, who was found dead on July 20th. His death was labeled a suicide by hanging. Chris Cornell was found dead on May 18th in a hotel room In Detroit, which was also ruled a suicide by hanging.
Talida Bennington, wife of Chester Bennington tweeted the night before at One Republic thanking them. “Thank you @RyanTedder and @OneRepublic 4 honoring my husband Chester and dear pal Chris tmrw. Be still and you will feel them sing within you too.”
