The 30-year-old Canadian rapper has been breaking the charts since 2009 when his hit single Best I Ever Had debuted. Eight years later the 6 God is nowhere to be seen on the Billboard Hot 100 chart, but he isn’t willing to give up his billboard crown just yet, in fact, he’s striving for 500.
TMZ has caught up with the rapper on Thursday night leaving TAO in Hollywood, California. In the video, the photog asked him how he felt about the news and Drake just said, “I need 500.” To reset his streak all the way to 500 weeks on the list, Drake would need to dominate once again until 2027.
Drake spent a total of 431 consecutive weeks on the Hot 100 until recently when his two songs “Passionfruit” fell from number 81 and “Signs” from number 100. He is at 431 weeks followed by his partner in crime Lil Wayne at 326 weeks and his ex-girlfriend Rihanna at 216 weeks.
Even though Drizzy isn’t making his mark on the charts right now, the rapper has still been winning. Coming off his 8th annual OVO Fest in his hometown the gave a memorable show along with his peers Nelly, The Weeknd, Cardi B, Migos. He even squashed his beef with Troy Lane on the stage with a replica of the famous CN Tower in Toronto.
And this weekend he embarked on a guys weekend posting pictures with Jaleel White aka Urkel himself alongside a friend and fellow rapper Travis Scott. On Sunday he also posted a picture of himself with friends including six-time NBA champion Lebron James in an all-guys dinner. He and Lebron James often tend to have an ongoing battle during basketball season, however, the two seem to be best of friends in the photo.
Whether he makes it to 500 or not we will continue to enjoy the great music the 6 God has to offer.
