In a recent interview with The Hollywood Reporter Emmy-nominated Evan Rachel Wood discusses her Westworld character Dolores’ crusade through consciousness and give fans an inkling of what to expect from her character in the second season.
During the interview, Wood states that when she signed on for Westworld she herself didn’t know anything about the character Dolores. A big misconception about the character was expecting her to be a minor character with a damsel in distress personality. Wood continues to make connections between the most recent Wonder Woman character and Dolores, both being outsiders yet strong female characters, not conforming to general ideas of genders and stereotypes.
The trailer for Westworld’s second season was released at this year’s San Diego Comic-Con. So what can fans expect from the new season and Dolores? Dolores “has been pushed a little too far”, Wood humors during the interview. She elaborates on fans immediate feedback to the trailer, and the scene of Dolores and Teddy (James Marsden) riding horses and blood shedding park guests. According to Wood, Dolores experienced so much pain and cruel realizations about the world and herself during the first season that she believes viewers were anxiously anticipating the free and wild Dolores character — taking control of her life again.
