George Lucas Offers His Input on ‘The Last Jedi’

Although he sold Lucasfilm in 2012, George Lucas continues to be part of the Star Wars universe he created 40 years ago!

While Lucas has nothing to do with the storylines and scripts of the new films, he still offers noteworthy ideas about the Jedi. President of Lucasfilm, Kathleen Kennedy, spoke to Entertainment Weekly about Lucas’ connection to the films.

“[He will] whisper in my ear every now and then. Usually it’s something specific or important to him about Jedi training. Things like that.”

In the December premiere of Star Wars: The Last Jedi fans will see Rey, played by Daisy Ridley, be trained by Luke at the first temple of the Jedi Order. However, the question is what will Rey’s training consist of since Luke claims that the Jedi must end.

The Star Wars creator has also visited the sets of the latest Star Wars films. According to Rogue One director Gareth Edwards, Lucas mostly provided jokes and motivation while on set.

“I think he’s starting to settle into this and just be a fan. It’s taken a while. It’s hard to let go, after 40 years.” Kennedy said.

Even though Lucas is no longer at the forefront of the galactic universe, there’s no doubt that an idea which was born 40 years ago has become one of the greatest movie franchises of all time.
