Things are going to get steamy on HBO this September. The company has released the latest trailer of their new upcoming series, “The Deuce,” starring James Franco and Maggie Gyllenhaal.
The series comes from David Simon, the creator behind “The Wire,” and is set in Times Square during the rise of the porn industry in the 70s. Franco plays mobster twins Vincent and Frankie Martino, bar owners whose involvement in this business gets them into some serious trouble. Gyllenhaal will star as “Candy” Merrell, a sex worker who gets into the industry with different ambitions.
In the new trailer, HBO briefly introduces many of the show’s characters, their motivations, and the creation/rise of the porn industry. The trailer also briefly touches on how the police will respond to the growth of this industry, and whether or not they’ll want to keep it alive.
Alongside Franco and Gyllenhaal, “The Wire” veterans, Lawrence Gilliard Jr. (D’Angelo Barksdale), Gbenga Akinnagbe (Chris Partlow), and Chris Bauer (Frank Sobotka) will be in the series.
“The Deuce” will be made up of eight episodes and is set to HBO on September 10. Be sure to watch the trailer down below!
