As Hurricane Harvey still rages down in Texas, Sandra Bullock is following in the footsteps of her fellow celebrities by lending aide to the victims.

According to People, Bullock donated $1 million to the Red Cross relief effort on Tuesday. Even with the political divide within the country, Bullock believes that the flooding and overall disaster brought by Harvey to the people of Texas should bring all Americans together.

“There are no politics in eight feet of water,” Bullock says in regards to her donation. “There are human beings in eight feet of water.”

Bullock’s donation, along with the donations pouring in from all over the country, will help the Red Cross and other foundations begin providing shelter and supplies for thousands of people displaced by the storm.

“This is an incredible gift. We’re so thankful. It’s times like this when we do receive such an incredible amount of support. Especially during times of disaster, people see what’s happening in Texas and our hearts all go out to them,” Elizabeth Penniman, Vice President of Communications for American Red Cross national headquarters, told People in response to Bullock’s donation.
