Selena Gomez has been working hard on herself and her career this year. She has produced her own show (13 Reasons Why), released new music, and started a brand new relationship with singer The Weeknd. Even though she has been coming out with new music expanding her singing career, Gomez is now headed back into acting as she has been cast in an upcoming Woody Allen film, alongside Elle Fanning and Timothee Chamalat.
The project is untitled for now but will be released by Amazon Studios and at the moment is being kept under wraps. Allen has worked with Amazon before with the 2016 film Cafe Society. His next movie will be Wonder Wheel, starring James Belushi, Juno Temple, Justin Timberlake and Kate Winslet, releasing in October at the New York Film Festival.
Gomez has acted in a couple of movies before such as Spring Breakers, The Fundamentals of Caring, In Dubious Battle, and has just finished recording the voice of Mavis for Hotel Transylvania 3, which is to be released in September 2018.
Even though fans of Gomez are happy to see her on the big screen, the young Pop Star is getting a lot of Backlash for working with Woody Allen, because of his daughter Dylan Farrows accusation that he had sexually abused her when she was only seven years old. Even though in 1993 a trial found no evidence Farrows Continues to stand by her accusation. Gomez has been getting negative responses on social media for working alongside Allen, because she produced 13 Reasons Why, which brings awareness to Assault and Molestation.
Gomez has not responded to the backlash and continues to work on the untitled project.
