Taylor Swifts “Look What You Made Me Do” Music Video

Taylor Swift performs at DIRECTV NOW Super Saturday Night Concert at Club Nomadic on February 4, 2017 in Houston, Texas.

The old Taylor Swift is dead and a new one has taken her place. During the epic new music video for Swifts new single “Look what You Made Me Do”, she brings out her not so sweet side that we seen over the years.

There is a lot to take in when watching the music video, it sort of feels like you have to watch it twice to understand. The video starts off with a grave that says “Here lies Taylor Swifts Reputation” and out of the grave pops out a zombie version of the singer, who then transforms into her normal self laying in a bathtub of diamonds. Later on Swift picks up a phone call and says “I’m sorry the old Taylor can’t come to the phone right now, why? oh cause she is dead”.

The story that Swift is trying to tell with the song and the music video is that her reputation and personality have been insulted so much by the media that she’s had to in a sense “Murder” her old self and take on a new form. She blames the killing of all her old personalities on the critics by saying “Look What You Made Me Do”.  Taylor Mocks all of those personas by standing above them and having them all fight each other underneath her, trying to climb to where she is standing confidently.

During the last couple seconds of the video all of the old Taylor Swift personalities begin to argue using all the negative comments people have said to her over the years, while applause are heard in the background. One of them tells the other who looks excited “You cant possibly be that surprised all the time”, then a very young Taylor gets yelled at for trying to stop the argument, “Stop acting like your so nice your so fake”.

Swift hears the criticism that is brought to her daily and has shown that she is done playing the victim. Her new album Reputation will be released on November 10th.
