Miley Cyrus was nowhere to be seen at the 2017 Teen Choice Awards in L.A. Sunday. This after being confirmed to appear on stage to accept the show’s highest honor, the Ultimate Choice Award, for her involvement in the annual event for over a decade.
Cyrus cancelled last minute and her absence was definitely felt throughout the UCLA Galen Center. Enough that presenter Victoria Justice had to say something, “I know. It’s a bummer” she told the audience.
There is a very simple and understandable reason for Cyrus’ absenteeism. With a wholehearted Instagram post Cyrus explained, thanked and apologized to her fans for not attending.
Cyrus went all out, writing “To my dearest fans & all of those watching @teenchoicefox ! I want to say thank you from the very bottom of my heart for presenting me with #TheUltimateChoiceAward!” The “Malibu” singer continues, “I am beyond bummed I couldn’t make it to the show as I had every intention of being there to accept and celebrate this honor! I created an unrealistic schedule for myself.”
And without hesitation Cyrus surprised her fans with news that will make them forget that it’s Monday today. Cyrus announced, “My new single / music video #YoungerNow will be dropping this Friday, Aug 18th & I am sooooooo EXCITED to share it with all of you! I hope to always make people smile and shine light thru my work!”
Ending her Instagram post with a lot of love, “I look forward to making music for the rest of my life and I’m thankful everyday for those who listen! I am sending so much love and peace into the world right now because THATS what we need most! Love Love & more LOVE!”
