The Royal Family Is Apparently Banned From Eating This Type Of Food

Being a part of the Royal Family can’t be all fun and games, apparently.

According to this Marie Claire UK article, there are some pretty surprising rules that all royals must follow. One of these rules has to do with their diets. Historically, the Royal Family has been restricted from eating…(wait for it)…shellfish.

Now while you might be thinking this has to do with weight and keeping face, the main reason behind this rule is to avoid the food poisoning risks that are paired with eating undercooked or ill-prepared shellfish. When you’re constantly on the go for diplomatic reasons, food poisoning can be a problem. That is why rare meat and tap water from foreign countries is also on the no-go dietary list.

The Royal Family also apparently limits it’s intake of garlic and onion to avoid “stinky” conversations with people they meet, since they do a lot of “meeting and greeting.”

Of course, the younger royals stray from these rules, the Queen sticks to these guidelines wholeheartedly, surprising considering she could probably do whatever she wants considering she is the Queen of England.

Either way, a life without lobster seems like a bust.
