Warner Brothers announced that they are developing a movie telling the origin story of Batman nemesis the Joker and among the list of producers was Martin Scorsese. The 74-year-old filmmaker has directed many hit films like Taxi Driver, Goodfellas and Raging Bull.

However, he’s known for his motion pictures with big stars like Robert DeNiro, Jack Nicholson and Leonardo DiCaprio. Rumor has it that Warner Brothers wants to use Scorsese to convince DiCaprio to enter the world of DC comics movies and portray the criminal mastermind the Joker.

The dynamic duo have worked together in many films like “Gangs of New York,” “The Aviator,” best picture winner “The Departed,” “Shutter Island,” and “The Wolf of Wall Street.”

DiCaprio,42, would have to follow the performances of other actors who have played the Joker. Cesar Romero was the Joker in the 1960s Batman television series followed by Jack Nicholson in the 1989 Batman film.

The late actor Heath Ledger won an Oscar for his portrayal of the Joker in the Dark Knight movie and Jared Leto took on the role in the 2016 Suicide Squad film.

This isn’t the only Joker project in the works. Last month Warner Brothers announced a Joker and Harley Quinn movie starring Jared Leto and Margot Robbie.

We will have to wait and see if DiCaprio takes on the supervillain role.
