90’s kids everywhere rejoiced when we heard a new Hey Arnold movie was in the works back in 2015. Well, Nickelodeon just released an exclusive sneak peek of the film at San Diego Comic-Con.
The Hey Arnold series ended back in 2004. Show creator and writer Craig Bartlett previously said that the story of Arnold and his friends, “picks up where the original series ended and resolves unanswered plotlines — including the whereabouts of Arnold’s parents, long missing from the program.”
The plot of the movie will be Arnold traveling to San Lorenzo in hopes of finding any information on his missing parents — a storyline that was never fully resolved in the series.
The preview shows Arnold walking to the rooftop of his building where he is greeted by a surprise party with every character from the series. Arnold’s friends and family show him a video they created to express gratitude for everything Arnold has done for them over the last few years. We hear heartfelt messages from Rhonda, Sid, Herald, Stoop Kid to name a few, ending with a message from Arnold’s best friend Gerald who says Arnold deserves to win a trip to San Lorenzo because “he’s done so much for others; he’s a humanitarian, just like his parents.”
Nickelodeon will premiere Hey Arnold: The Jungle Movie on Friday, Nov. 24 at 7 p.m.
