Cane Clothing Introducing Bamboo Fiber

Cane Clothing, the UK based company is introducing clothing made of bamboo fiber, creating soft t-shirts that are not only good for you but for the environment as well.

I had a pleasure of interviewing the partner of the brand – Jake Harvey who explained the benefits of the product to the environment and the wearer, the plans for the future of the brand and what makes the product unique. Currently only t-shirts for males are available for sale but the plan is to add more products for females as well as active and sportswear.

The product indeed is very soft, durable and fashionable at the same time!

Why and how did you decide on creating a product made of bamboo fibers?
We wanted to create a product with the benefits of wearing bamboo but with a fashionable aspect to the garment. After looking into the market we found mens fashion in bamboo clothing is pretty bland and we wanted to change this by creating our own brand. Our minimalistic design and sleek logo is expertly embroidered onto high quality T-shirts to create exactly what the market needs.

What are benefits of this fabric?
Wearing bamboo has numerous benefits and we were shocked to find other companies not already using this fantastic fibre for their garments.

Where are you getting the fibers from?
Currently we source our garments from Turkey and Bangladesh.
At Cane we are proud of the products we create and the way they are sourced and manufactured, our products are made with:
No use of child labour
No use of forced labour
Safe and healthy working conditions
Legal labour contracts
Payment of living wage
Freedom of association and the right to collective bargaining
No discrimination against employees
No excessive hours of work
All the fabrics are knitted at our manufacturers in-house facilities, and dyed with GOTS approved chemicals, using low-water and controlled waste discharge processes, certified to OekoTex 100 Class I standard and conforming to REACH.
Organic certified fabrics are dyed in our zero-discharge dyehouse, where all the water is recycled in a closed-loop system.
Our manufacturers ensure full traceability with all sourced fibres, choosing low impact bamboo viscose and 100% certified organic cotton.

Are there any other brands that are using bamboo fibers and if so, what makes you different from the competitors that are using the fabric?
Our aim is to provide fashion to the bamboo clothing industry, especially for mens wear. Which is constantly overlooked when dealing with niche fashion markets such as sustainable and eco friendly clothing.

What are the plans for future of the brand?
Our immediate plans are to increase our product range to women’s, and then sports and active wear clothing.

Are you planning on adding more products to the line for females?
Yes, we are currently designing and discussing production with our manufacturer for our new women’s range.
