On Sunday, May 14th, 2017, Louis Vuitton will hold its Cruise 2018 show in Japan.
Previous Louis Vuitton cruise shows have been held in Rio de Janeiro, Monaco, and Palm Springs. French fashion designer and artistic director of women’s collections, Nicolas Ghesquière reportedly traveled to Tokyo in late November to scout potential locations for the Cruise 2018 show.
Ghesquière is also known for his taste of all things sci-fi and tech, hence the UFO-shaped venue used for 2017 cruise show in Rio De Janeiro, Brazil. Ghesquière is believed to have been appointed to reinvent and heighten Louis Vuitton’s fashion offering, restoring the brand’s high luxury seal.
Founded on principles of tradition and modernity, Louis Vuitton has maintained strong ties with Japan since the late 19th century. Japanese artists and designers Takashi Murakami, Yayoi Kusama, and Rei Kawakubo have all collaborated with Louis Vuitton in the past. Louis Vuitton has strategically cultivated the aristocratic foundations of its history while venturing onto the cutting edge of modernity and futurism.
The house will reveal the specific city and location of the Cruise 2018 show at a later date.
