If Miranda Kerr has taught us anything, it’s that the sidewalk is just as good of a catwalk as any when it comes to showing off amazing style. Kerr’s fashion-forward outfits never fail to capture the iconic “model off duty” look with ease and an air of chicness.
Like most of us, Kerr lives in her jeans. Her wardrobe centers around classic cool girl fashion staples like relaxed button-ups, neutral colors, oversized coats, simple cropped tops, and of course, a stunningly extensive collection of denim. From jeans, to skirts, to jackets, the gorgeous Australian supermodel is constantly dressing one of a kind denim up and down in her signature supermodel style.
For those of us who aren’t supermodels and don’t have access to special pieces, Kerr has exciting news! Following in the steps of countless other celebrities experimenting with creating fashion, Miranda Kerr has delved into designing supermodel jeans for the everyday woman. In a collaboration with denim brand Mother, she has released a twelve piece capsule collection. Not only does this release offer unique jeans, but it also includes a jumpsuit, skirt, shirt, and shorts. Considering the extent to which she has consistently impressed the world with her own enviable denim collection, the prospect of having access to her favorite styles is more than exciting.
The best part of the collaboration? Not only does the Miranda + Mother collection offer incredible style at a mid-range price point, it is also is a conscious buy that gives back. Kerr’s capsule collection was created to benefit The Royal Hospital for Women Foundation. Regarding designing denim for a cause, she tells Vogue:
“Being involved in this creative process is something that I enjoy and the fact that it’s for a great cause was the icing on the cake. The hospital provides so much support for women and assistance for mothers and their babies.”
Drawing inspiration from fashion icons Audrey Hepburn, Jane Birkin and Cindy Crawford, the collection contains pieces with distinct ’60s, ’70s and ’90s styles. Each item is created with a deep understanding of how the perfect pair of jeans positively affects the wearer and can be the ultimate confidence booster for women. With this in mind, Kerr has made sure that each item in the collection has personal touches that set them apart from others.
Describing the concept in an interview with Vogue, Kerr says:
“When someone loves their jeans so much, they feel like a second skin in a way. There are cheeky little handwritten notes on the back of these jeans that say ‘hands off, these are mine.’ I wanted to include those to give the pieces that personal touch. I want women to feel uplifted when they wear these pieces.”
One thing you won’t find in the Miranda + Mother collection? Low-rise jeans! Though Kerr loves reinvention of old styles and even channels ’90s supermodels in her street style, she thinks low-rise jeans are best left buried and in the past. Kerr confides, “It’s fun to see some of the old stuff reinvented because it’s obviously better than what it was back then and more refined. One thing I’m not that fond of though, is a low-, low-cut jean. That’s just not me. I’ve heard that it’s making a comeback and I just cringe at the thought.”
