Designers Humberto Leon and Carol Lim have been known to think about-of-the-box for their creative and unconventional approach to fashion show formats and this year Opening Ceremony is no different. Leon and Lim are collaborating with choreographer, Justin Peck from the New York City Ballet to put together a creative and exciting event. It will be held on January 28, 2017, at Lincoln Center’s David H. Koch Theater and it will include Peck’s new ballet for NYCB’s 2017 Winter Season. Leon and Lim will be swapping out models for dancers and they will be wearing designs curated by Leon and Peck and the dancers will be wearing sneakers instead of ballet shoes. The show will also have a “see now, buy now” feature as the Opening Ceremony collection inspired by Leon and Peck will be available in stores the very next day on January 29, 2017.
This new approach to the Opening Ceremony will give new relationships formed between the fashion and ballet communities and we know that with Peck, Leon and Lim involved, it will be an evening to remember.
