First, Manolo Blahnik made Carrie Bradshaw’s iconic satin and crystal-embellished Hangisi pump. Recently, he collaborated with Vetements and Rihanna to create satin and fur booties with pointed toes. The high-heel protégée’s latest project is a pair of $5700 pink booties made of crystals and pom-poms.
They are perhaps his most elaborate, most expensive and most personal design to date. Blahnik collaborated with top Bohemian crystal manufacturer Preciosa to create the artful, lux-looking shoe.
Blahnik started with a pair of pink satin stiletto booties with a pointy toe and covered them in hot pink pom-poms that resemble the kind found at a craft store. The pom-poms are then topped with more than 100 tear-drop-like crystals that are normally used on chandeliers.
These shoes are almost too pretty to wear—which is fitting, as they will not be for sale. Blahnik created them exclusively for his upcoming exhibition The Art of Shoes, which will be on view at Prague’s Museum Kampa through this November.
Blahnik named the boots the “Shoe of Prague,” to pay homage to his Czech heritage.
