Raf Simons has had a pretty impressive career in the last couple of years.  In 2012 Simons became the Creative Director of Dior where he stayed until 2015.  Simons later became the Creative Chief Officer of Calvin Klein in August, 2016, revamping the company’s logo.  Now less than year with working with the brand as its creative director, Raf Simons, won two CFDA awards on Monday (06/05/17) for both Menswear and Womenswear designer of the year.  No one in fashion history has won both the Menswear and Womenswear awards on the same night since, coincidently, Calvin Klein himself twenty-four years ago.

Simons first acceptance during the CFDA awards was received warmly but it was his second acceptance that moved audiences as the designer held back tears.  Simons teased his first speech, however, he went on to a more emotional speech, sending a message.

“To all the students, I want to say something: It’s our task more than ever to inspire and to be an example… if we as creators can be an inspiration for how the world SHOULD look, we should take that as a very important task in our existence.”

Watch both of Raf Simons’ acceptance speeches below.
