Cara Delevingne, former Victoria’s Secret Angel-turned-internet-personality-and- actress, recently spoke about why she stopped modeling.
“I didn’t like what I stood for. I didn’t like what it was turning me into,” she told The Radio Times.
Delevingne was once one of the most in-demand models in the industry, having walked in more than 40 shows in the span of two years.
She strutted her stuff for crowd pleasers like Burberry Prorsum, Marc Jacobs, Louis Vuitton, Chanel and Fendi, and maintained personal relationships with Jacobs and Karl Lagerfeld.
Despite these friendships, Delevingne said she never felt like she fit into the superficial fashion scene.
“That is not me at all–you speak to my oldest best friends, and they know I’m not a model,” she said. “I do not give a shit about what I look like.”
Delevingne put her modeling career aside to focus on acting, which she says is her true passion. In 2015, she starred in the teen drama, Paper Towns, and has a lead role in Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets, a comic book-inspired action film that hit theaters last week.
