Fashion Documentaries to Watch in 2017

What do Manolo Blahnik, Zac Posen and Zara have in common? These brands are all receiving fashion documentaries this year. Below is a look at each upcoming stylish film.

Manolo: The Boy Who Made Shoes For Lizards

Blahnik, who created the buckle-embellished satin pump worn by Carrie Bradshaw, has a place in nearly every fashionista’s heart—and closet.

The icon’s life will be documented through interviews with personalities like Anna Wintour, Iman and Rihanna and exclusive footage of his childhood in Spain.

“My joy in life is spending time in the factory,” Blahnik says in the trailer.

House of Z

Zac Posen, designer of extravagant red carpet gowns, rose to fame at a young age. As a result, he has experienced many trials and tribulations. The documentary shows the eccentric designer’s dramatic life story as well as his road to redemption.

Zara: The Story of the World’s Richest Man

The fast-fashion retailer that we all hate to love is receiving its first film. The documentary will portray founder (and world’s richest man) Amancio Ortega’s journey to success. It will reveal statistical secrets, like how many Zara items hit stores each week, how long it takes to produce a garment, and how many euros were in Ortega’s pocket when he launched the billion-dollar company.
