Veteran champions like Rafael Nadal, Novak Djokavic and Maria Sharapova and new faces like Denis Shapovalov and Grigor Dimitrov have officially arrived in New York for the U.S. Open, the final competition comprising the world’s annual tennis “grand slam.” The U.S. Open takes place at Flushing Meadows in Queens, N.Y. from now thru September 10.
It is no secret that most tennis pros partner with sports brands to create their uniforms, and also receive sponsorship from high-end companies. Roger Federer, who is sponsored by Rolex, Mercedes-Benz and Wilson, has recently collaborated with Nike to launch a pair of exclusive sneakers.
The shoes are available at Kith’s Soho location for a limited time this week. Sneakerheads can head to the pop-up shop thru August 27 for a taste of Federer’s classy athletic products.
The sneakers are the classic Nike Zoom Vapor Air Jordan 3 style, but feature red trim and pieces of black leather. The tongue is embroidered with a black “RF” in true Federer fashion. The shoes retail for $200.
“It’s a really comfortable shoe, and I’m super-excited about it,” Federer said at the Kith launch last night.
The shop will also auction off items worn by Federer during various competitions. You can purchase a white henley, a pair of Flyknit sneakers or a white tracksuit top, all signed by the star. But bring your credit card, because each item is going for $10,000.
The proceeds will be donated to the Roger Federer Foundation, which benefits child education.
