Looks like Sports Illustrated booked its first second-generation model; nine-time SI Swimsuit model Christie Brinkley’s daughter, Sailor.
Sailor Brinkley Cook will have her first solo feature in the 2018 Sports Illustrated Swimsuit edition. Cook, along with Brinkley and sister Alexa Ray Joel, appeared in last year’s edition, but this year she will be shot by herself as one of the magazine’s Rookies.
In a video posted by the Swim Daily website, Brinkley surprises Cook during a fake fashion week interview with the news that she would be an SI Rookie, who is then gifted with a silver one-piece with her name on it.
According to SI Swimsuit editor MJ Day, Sailor is the perfect candidate for the magazine.
”She’s funny. She’s driven. She’s smart. She’s beautiful. She’s interesting,” she said. “And most of all, she has a voice and isn’t afraid to use it. Sailor translates so well off the printed page— Much like her mom, she embodies everything it means to be an SI Swimsuit model, but she’s doing it in a way that is very much her own.”
Brinkley appeared in the magazine eight times between 1975 – 2004, and had three consecutive covers in 1979, 1980, and 1981, the first SI Swimsuit model to do so.
With Brinkley’s signature blonde tresses and height, Cook is sure to make a huge splash in the upcoming issue.
