Can a runway with multiple perceptions at once be placed into its own original concept? Gucci thinks so. This season’s runway looks are full to the brim with different styles and trends all meshed together in both the men’s and women’s collections.
It’s not a bad idea by any means. It shows originality and thought placed before all the fashion editors attending the show. Not many designers have been able to achieve that level without looking like a mess.
The men’s collection, for instance, not only features dress shorts, but also the idea of floral leggings and lace-up boots together. The black leather overalls displayed are a personal favorite.
With all of the outfits in the men’s collection, it also keeps a light consistency of retro vibes throughout the entirety of the show. Hair is flipped and blown out, pants are flared and V-neck band tees are styled to match.
The women’s collection had an opposite effect. Keeping the majority of the silhouettes classic, prints were used as the prime experiment. One model walked down the runway fully dressed in snake print items while another sported a tropical print with lace accents.
Gucci is overall an innovative design house that is capable of incorporating concepts from all fashion eras and placed into one show. Some might say it is an avant garde approach.
