Alicia Vikander is not afraid to take on a challenging high pressure role – and she’s not afraid to do stunts either. Images recently obtained by paparazzi show the star from The Danish Girl (2016) on the South Africa set of the Tomb Raider reboot, and she is not messing around. Dressed in a skin tank top and pants tucked into combat boots, Alicia Vikander is the spitting image of Lara Croft and the Internet seems to agree – the photos are all over Twitter and Instagram with fans excited to see what’s in store for the actress.

The images feature Vikander filming an action scene on top of what appears to be a large metal beam. It is speculated that she is acting out an escape sequence, since her hands are bound in the photos, as she runs, climbs, crawls across, and swings from the beam. There is also a visible safety harness in the shot, but it is assumed that this will be edited out when the film reaches the post-production stage.

The film, set to be released on March 16th of 2018, is actually based on a video game series of the same. The video games, as well as the film, follow the adventures of archaeologist Lara Croft. There have also already been two reboots done by Paramount Pictures, Lara Croft: Tomb Raider (2001) and Lara Croft Tomb Raider: The Cradle of Life (2003), both starring Angelina Jolie. This means Vikander has some big shoes to fill, but it is clear that she is up to the challenge. She will be working alongside director Roar Uthaug and costars Walton Goggins and Dominic West to produce a reboot worth watching.

In the meantime, check out some cool facts about the actress.
