Cardi B’s Bodak Yellow Makes Billboard History

At age 24, Cardi B has become the first woman rapper to score a number one hit single with no features since Lauryn Hill in November 1998 with her song Doo Wop (That Thing)Bodak Yellow beat out Taylor Swift’s single Look What You Made Me Do, which bumped out the song of the summer Despacito after a 16-week run.

Coming from the Bronx, New York to making it as the first Dominican woman to top the Billboard charts, Cardi B whose real name is Belcalis Almanzar has made her mark in today’s culture. She started off as a stripper, leading into an Instagram celebrity and a reality TV star on Love and Hip-Hop: New York.

Cardi B made her Hip-Hop debut in November 2015 on the Jamaican reggae remix to the single Boom Boom, alongside fellow Jamaican dancehall singer Popcaan.

She has gotten a lot of success lately with the release of her two mixtapes and recently performing at the MTV VMAs pre-show. Cardi B’s first album is set to finally drop in October.

Cardi B is as the real as they come, which is why her Bardi Gang love her so much and because of them, she’s number one. We will have to wait and see what her new album brings.
