Talk about success! Sofia Vergara is the highest-paid television actress for the third year in a row.
According to the Forbes list of highest-paid TV actresses, the Modern Family actress made $41.5 million this year. A quarter of those earnings came from her role on the hit family sitcom, while the rest comes from her endorsement deals with brands like CoverGirl and Pepsi.
Cuoco came in second this year with her $26 million, most of which comes from her role as Penny on The Big Bang Theory. Mindy Kaling and Ellen Pompeo are tied for third with their around $13 million earnings, with Pompeo making most of her money from Grey’s Anatomy and Kaling earning for her show, plus Oceans 8 and A Wrinkle in Time. Mariska Hargitay rounds out the top 5 for her role on Law & Order: SVU.
Vergara has proved herself as a lucrative businesswoman, focusing on licensing deals rather than straight endorsements so that she can control the product and have a stake in its sales. Even though she isn’t making exponentially more than her fellow TV actresses, her work outside acting, and the brand she has created around herself, pushes her to the top earning spot.
Maybe she should start giving lectures on how to make it big? Just a thought.
