Lin-Manuel Miranda’s #PuberMe Video Helps Stephen Colbert Raise $1 Million For Puerto Rico

Lin-Manuel Miranda helped Stephen Colbert raise $1 million for his Puerto Rico hurricane relief fund. How?

Last week, Colbert invited celebrities to share awkward photos of themselves from their puberty days using the hashtag #PuberMe. Sitting at $999,000, the “Hamilton” star made a surprise appearance last night on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert and shared a very, very awkward video of him singing about Puerto Rico at the age of 13. Since Colbert had promised to donate $1,000 for every celebrity who participated in the #puberme campaign, the fundraiser reached its goal of raising $1 million for those in Puerto Rico affected by Hurricane Irma.

Miranda also was on The Late Show promoting his new benefit single for Puerto Rico which features a long list of well-known Latin singers such as Jennifer Lopez, Luis Fonsi and Gloria Estefan. Broadway stars like Rita Moreno, John Leguizamo and Ana Villafañe are featured in the song as well.

Written by Miranda, “Almost Like Praying” and proceeds will be donated to the Hispanic Federation UNIDOS Disaster Relief Fund.

“Say it loud and there’s music playing,” Miranda sings in the single. “Say it soft and it’s almost like praying, it’s almost like praying.”
