91st Academy Awards is right around the corner. There were some snubs but also some interesting nominations.
Lady Gaga, for example, was disappointed that Bradley Cooper, who acted and directed the Star is Born, wasn’t nominated for the Best Director. She said:
“Well, you know, you never know what’s going to happen. But at the end of the day, he knows that he’s the best director in my eyes, and in all of our eyes as his cast.”
Bradley Cooper was nominated for the Best Picture, Best Actor, and Best Adapted Screenplay categories.
Another interesting nomination was BlacKkKlansman which according to a couple of sources has a very good chance of winning the Academy Award.
With the Golden Globes leaving us with full of surprises and the Oscar nominations announced, the following odds tracker for the Academy Awards will be updated as accolades accrue and conflict arises, so check back frequently as we expect a tight race between the favorites to win on the major categories.
Roma, directed by Alfonso Cuaron was also nominated for the Oscar’s and no wonder, the black and white film is very well made. In my opinion, the film might not be keeping you on toes the entire time you are watching it. But it is very unique in a way that it beautifully depicts life: life happens and no matter what, you deal with it and move on. Roma is one of a kind films and definitely deserves this recognition.
The Favorite, a period film has also good chances of winning the Oscars, if not for the Best Picture but for the leading or supporting actress.
