There were many things to love about Valentino’s Resort 2018 collection. Mock-neck tennis dresses, sporty chiffon pleated skirts and satin track pants hit the New York runway, but the true showstopper was the footwear.
Creative director Pierpaolo Piccioli completed the models’ athletic-inspired attire with strappy heels, slides, furry flip-flops and slip-on sneakers.
The strappy heels were the sporty, summery little sister of Valentino’s signature “rock stud” heels. Each pair featured an ankle-strap, a t-strap and a crisscross strap made of colored leather and trimmed in white, and embellished with white rock studs. The shoes came in red, black, sky blue, Kelly green, and yellow. To up the preppy, athletic anti, the designer added tennis socks underneath, complete with Varsity stripes around the ankles.
