Vans just launched its line with Marc Jacobs, and are back at it with yet another collaboration. This time, the designs, by creative collective, Brain Dead, are a little less couture and a little more punk.
Brooklyn’s House of Vans hosted a party last night to celebrate the launch of Vans X Brain Dead, where guests sipped beers and listened to a live performance by post-punk band, Protomartyr.

Brain Dead is an arty skate brand that draws influence from post-punk music and subcultures to create colorful, graphic, tongue-in-cheek designs.
The collection features t-shirts, tote bags, hats and classic skate shoes in colors like “silver pink,” “granite green,” and “aspen gold.” They are printed with black glyphs inspired by animals, rocks and otherworldly objects.
As such a conceptual, underground brand, Brain Dead is the perfect choice to take Vans–the skate shoe pioneer–back to it roots.
Vans.com describes Brain Dead as follows: “The brand takes its cues from post-punk, underground comics, skateboarding, and the spirit of subculture as a whole. Brain Dead is not one person, nor is it one idea. It sits in the space between people.”
